EUROPEAN UNION “JOB ABROAD” PROJECT

PROJECT SUMMARY AND EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

This two year EU Project, funded under the Leonardo Programme, will commence in December 2009. Entitled “Job Abroad”, it is directed at the two most vulnerable unemployed groups in Europe – university graduates, and older persons who have faced redundancy or are otherwise unemployed.

Beneficiaries

For UK graduates and older persons the aim of the project is to offer them the opportunity to seek a job, or work experience, in Denmark, Germany or Iceland through our partnerships with organisations, institutions and universities in these countries. Graduates and older persons within these countries will also have the opportunity to seek jobs, or work placements, in the UK.

Project Aims

The project will build an internet communication platform, which will offer free access to applicants in the participating countries to enter information about themselves (CV, desired work, location etc.), and also to research job opportunities and information on potential employers, which will be entered by the organisations, and also job centres, within the participating countries. Help and information will also be available from the support organisations in the countries together with guidance for those considering starting a business.

Project Partners

The partnership includes leading universities in Denmark and Iceland, the leading unemployment fund in Denmark and the German national office for work placements and mobility, both in Germany and abroad.

SEACC is pleased to be the UK partner in this project and to be able to give graduates and mature, experienced people the opportunity to explore the possibility of working abroad. Our staff’s previous involvement in EU funded projects has enabled us to establish links with reputable national companies and universities in Denmark, Germany and Iceland and we hope to help UK applicants to obtain jobs or work placements in these countries.

Expressions of Interest

If you are a university and would be interested in participating in the project by making this information available to your graduates early next year, please confirm as soon as possible to: geoff.stock@seacc.org.uk

If you are a company who might be interested in either employing, or hosting a work placement for, a graduate or mature person from one of the participating countries please provide your details on the following form so that we can send you further information regarding registering on the communication platform early next year.

To assist in our planning, we would be grateful if the confirmations from universities and companies’ details could be sent prior to our first meeting, on 1st December 2009. To do so, please download the "Expression of Interest" form and return to us.
